Thin-section preparation of rocks, minerals and materials

escOrsa has its own thin section-preparation service for rocks, minerals and other materials. The study and analysis of 30 micron thin sections with optical microscopy by polarised transmitted light is one of the main techniques used in the petrographic assessment of samples and is essential in fields such as mining and oil exploration.

Preparation of metallographic specimens

escOrsa’s geological laboratory prepares rock and mineral specimens (with metallographic polishing) for study and analysis by polarised light microscopy and other high-resolution techniques, such as SEM-EDS electronic microscopy or electronic microprobes, among others.
