Rock mechanics, strength, hardness and abrasiveness assessment
The rock-mechanics laboratory is highly specialised and can perform a wide variety of rock tests to assess properties such as strength, elastic parameters, deformation, hardness and abrasiveness. These tests are essential when designing civil engineering projects, such as tunnels, mine shafts and slopes.
To conduct these tests, it is necessary to have specific equipment properly calibrated according to international standards and frameworks. There are two main groups:
escOrsa complies with Spanish and international standards (e.g., UNE and ASTM). Using high-precision automatic measurement transducers, the equipment is calibrated according to international standards, such as the National Accreditation and Certification (ENAC), the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA), the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).
